A recipient of the Gold Award for his appearance with the Shinmyung Wind Orchestra at the 44th Korea National Brasswind Competition in 2019, JEONGDAE LEE has a varied musical background including roles as a music educator, music theorist and conductor. His career began as a music teacher and he was a faculty member teaching music education and music theory at Gyeongsang National University and Kyungpook  National University. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor at Keimyung University in South Korea. Lee is the main author of general music textbooks used in Korean primary and secondary schools. As music theorist, his thesis on Chopin’s art songs was published in the Journal of Korean Society of Western Music Theory. He is a founding music director of Daegu Edubiz Orchestra, a civic orchestra comprised of music teachers and professionals in various occupations.

  Lee studied with Sung Kwak, former music director of Daegu Symphony Orchestra, and Prof. Yoonhak Baek at Yeungnam University, where he worked as assistant conductor in the opera Cavalleria Rusticana and Gianni Schicchi. Lee studied orchestra conducting in the Extension Program of the Juilliard School studying with Mark Shapiro, and holds Master’s degree in Conducting studying with Mark Powell at the City University of New York, Queens College.

 

    Lee was invited as a guest cunductor to conduct the 2022 season's program of NCO(New Conductors Orchestra) in New York, where he made his New York debut conducting the Schumann's Symphony No.3. He is currently the conductor of QC New Music Ensemble, where he oftenly primiered new composer's contemporaries in New York. He is also founding music director of Queens Camerata in New York, which is a chamber orchestra  composed of young talented musicians in New York. In addition, he served as an assistant conductor of the Queens College Orchestra and the Queens College Wind Orchestra, and currently serves as the conductor of the Daegu Kyowon Orchestra.

 

  He studied conducting at various conducting workshop in the United States and Europe. In particular, he was selected as a fellow conductor in the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra(BCO) Conducting Workshop with Markand Thakar, Music Director of the BCO, and a student of maestro Celibidache.

  이정대 지휘자는 음악 교육자, 음악 이론가, 지휘자 등의 다양한 음악적 배경을 가지고 있다. 음악 교육자로 커리어를 시작한 그는 경상국립대학교와 경북대학교에서 음악 교육과 음악 이론을 가르쳤으며, 최근에는 계명대학교에서 겸임교수로 재직하며 음악 이론과 지휘법을 가르치고 있다. 음악 교육자로서 그는 한국의 중고등학교 및 특수학교에서 사용되는 음악 교과서와 음악 이론 교과서의 주요 저자이다. 또한, 음악 이론가로서 그의 쇼팽 가곡에 관한 논문은 한국음악이론학회의 학술지에 게재되었다.

  그는 대구에서 다양한 직업군의 커뮤니티 멤버들로 구성된 대구 에듀비즈 오케스트라를 설립하여 음악 감독으로서 2019년과 2020년 시즌을 성공적으로 이끌었다. 2022년에는 뉴욕에서 활동하는 오케스트라 NCO(New Conductor's Orchestra)의 2022년 시즌 객원 지휘자로 초대되어 슈만 교향곡 제3번을 지휘하며 뉴욕 무대에 데뷔했다. 2023년부터는 뉴욕의 젊고 재능 있는 음악가들로 구성된 챔버 오케스트라인 퀸즈 카메라타 뉴욕(Queens Camerata of New York)의 음악 감독으로 활동하고 있으며, 뉴욕에 머무는 동안 ‘QC New Music Ensemble’의 지휘자, ‘Queens College Orchestra’, ‘Queens Wind Orchestra’의 부지휘자로 활동했다.

  계명 곽승 지휘 아카데미에서 전 대구 시립교향악단 음악감독 곽승 지휘자와 함께 지휘를 공부하기 시작한 이정대 지휘자는 영남대학교에서 백윤학 교수를 사사하였다. 이후 도미하여 최근까지 뉴욕에 머물면서 뉴욕 줄리어드 음악원의 익스텐션 프로그램 지휘 과정에서 마크 샤피로(Mark Shapiro) 교수와 오케스트라 및 오페라 지휘를 공부하였고, 뉴욕 시립대학교(CUNY) 퀸스 칼리지에서 마크 파웰 박사(Dr. Mark Powell)와 오케스트라 지휘를 공부하여 지휘 석사 학위(MM in Conducting)를 취득하였다. 또한, 그는 미국과 유럽에서 개최되는 다양한 지휘 워크숍에 참가하여 지휘를 공부하였다. 특히, ICI(International Conducting Institute)의 체코 지휘 워크숍에 선발되어 이스트만 음대의 지휘 교수 네일 배런(Neil Varon)으로부터 지도를 받았으며, 첼리비다케의 제자이자 미국의 저명한 지휘 교수인 마캔드 테이커(Markand Thakar)의 발티모어 챔버 오케스트라 지휘 워크숍에 선발되어 첼리비다케로부터 이어져온 그의 정통 지휘법을 전수받았다.
